I know, I know. I said I would write about my purge on Monday. Truthfully, I didn’t do a thing on Monday. The weather just made me feel lazy. I don’t know if that is a real thing, but it is the end of January and it was 5 degrees Celsius and raining. Almost all the snow is gone. We are now under constant threat of freezing rain when the temperature is supposed to drop 15 degrees. It’s quite depressing stuff.
While eating breakfast with my son, we got to watch a bunny munch on fresh greens growing under our lilac bush. IT’S JANUARY!!!
ANYWAYS. I am currently reading an ebook called Minimalism: Live A Meaningful Life by the Minimalists, Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus. I know, I talk about them a lot. They are my “mentors” so to speak, they are the end result, and the goal I wish to achieve.
The very first line in Chapter 1: Our Arrival is “Are You Happy?”
Y’all already know enough about my demons. Truthfully though, since starting this journey, I am happier than I have been in a long time! (Just don’t let me forget to take my meds!!) I have not brought anything into my life since starting this journey that wasn’t needed. I have given back so much to the community, donating 7 boxes of clothing and household items so far.
My spending has been cut 90%. We only spend money on food, bills, and the odd take out simply because we don’t need anything else. We have been able to save for our home. My “Husband” just went to the dentist this morning and we didn’t have to go into further debt to cover the charge. Life is so good!
I highly recommend everyone just take a second and write out what you truly want for this coming year. If you even think about adding happiness to that list, it’s time to think about finding the means to achieve it.
