I was planning on posting after work last night but instead fell asleep at 8pm and slept all the way until 7:30am. Today’s post counts for both days, a minimum of 9 items total.
I decided to take a crack at storagepalooza. I emptied one bag and almost one box by doing today’s purge.
I recycled the leopard print gift bag, notebook, glass jar, and the thank you cards. I trashed the bubble wrap and student card/key chain. Saying goodbye to a chunk of my past with that one. Which is something I really need to do. The rest of the items: ice-cube maker, kids toy, choking awareness item, and the pile of CDs were added to a box which I plan to drop off at a non-profit organisation in the city that accepts household items. I’ll do that when the box is full of stuff. The pile of cookbooks I plan to bring to my local library tonight before I pick up my son. The top cookbook was picked up by a woman from my local buy and sell, I gave it away for free.
The thing about books is that they are only good if you use them regularly. I listen to The Minimalists podcasts and on every single one they give away copies of their books. They tell their listeners to give those books away to someone else once they have finished reading it. The experience is now with you. You don’t need to keep the book.
Before I got pregnant, I was a huge collector of cookbooks. I just haven’t had the time to actually read them since I bought them. It hit me the other day that I have the internet at my disposal to find any recipe I want. So I am donating all my cookbooks, slowly, to the local library so that others can find value in their pages.
